Looking for Foursome Generator

Howdy!

I go on an annual golf trip with a dozen or so other guys and we have a
great time, but each year there's always the same issue that comes up -
some folks don't always get to play with everyone, or some people end
up playing with the same person more than 2 or 3 times.

Is there any free software out there for either Windows or PHP or Perl
or something that will allow me to feed in a list of players and have
it spit back out a list of foursomes over say 6 rounds of golf?

Wow. Nice.

The whole idea is that we all know each other and while we do have fun
at the course, it would still be nice to be able to play at least once
with everyone who comes.

can ask for a seperate room where you can all meet and greet. If they
want, they can rearrange their foursomes after they've met and talked for
the rest of the stay. This isn't a 5th grade field trip where you have to
assign bus seats nor should it be. Let the guys decide or randomly pick
it out of a hat if you must but take the heat off yourself and the stress
of one more thing to plan and control and let the guys do it. If there
are any compliants and I bet you get less allowing guys to play groups
they want, let those arrange the trip the next time and run it the way
they want.

pairings and then you could maybe modify them as needed.

To play with elevyn other people, you'd need to play 3 rounds.

Here's a link to a discussion on how many rounds it takes to have 16
people play each other, and the pattern of pairings for that to happen.
You can make this work for different numbers using the same technique.

You can do it your self... and even by hand...

Write down all the players in a block... this is day one.

1 7 13 19
2 8 14 20
3 9 15 21
4 10 16 22
5 11 17 23
6 12 18 24

For day 2 you roll the 1st column down one, roll the 2nd colum down
two, roll the 3rd down three and the 4th down 4...

6 11 16 21
1 12 17 22
2 7 18 23
3 8 13 24
4 9 14 19
5 10 15 20

Play the same game again for subsequent days. This iks super simple and
will give you a pretty good mix.
