There is a huge amount of wealth, but it is more and more concentrated
in the hands of the few.

From 1948 to 1973, increases in wages tracked increases in productivity
nearly perfectly.
From 1973 to 2013, productivity increased by 74.4%, but wages only
increased by...
...9.2%.
And that's the overall average. Those living on minimum wage have
actually LOST ground.
Look at Figure 4 (I can't link it, because it's not just an image).
If the minimum wage had kept pace with increases in productivity, it
would now be well over $20/hr.
Desperate people turn to crime.
